Soccer is a sport that has been played in Mexico and other spanish coutries since the mid 20th century.In 1971 Mexico City held its first womens World Cup game. This sport is played by two teams and the players pass and kick a spherical ball around a field. Each team consists of 11 players each. The field is 100 yards by 50 yards it can also be bigger but no smaller. The object of this game is to kick the ball into the opposing teams net.In this game it is elligal to use your hands. With your head, chest, or legs. Their are 45 min. halves that are suporvised by usually two referees. They call the fouls and determin contriversial plays. To score you have to put the ball in the net which is 8 ft. high and 8 yards long. The ball which is used is a leather ball that is 27-28 in. in circumference. All that is needed to play soccer is a ball, a goal, sidelines ( which are marked by chalk ), and some kind of uniform. The simplicty of the game is why it is all over the world. It is also one of the most popular games in the world.

Basketball is both a sport that men and women can play. It is an athletic aand it can be played indoors or outdoors. At each end of the court their is a basketball hoop 10ft. in the air. The object of this game is to shoot the ball through the hoop and score. By doing this you can score 1-2-3 point for your team. Each team is made up of 5 players. The positions are the point gaurd, 2 wing gaurds, 2 forwards, and a center. Each game is started by a tip-off. Then the ball is passed then shot into the hoop. Usually the game is very fast pased by the teams. Each basketball hoop is at least 94 ft. by 50 ft. Each regulation basketball is a inflated leather nylon-covered ball that weighs between 567-624 g. and it has a circumference of 24 in. The game is played and their is usually 2 referees to call fouls and contriversial call through-out hthe game. Since basketball is action packed and their is frequent scoring it is one of the most popular spectator sporting events in the world.
